Surf City El Salvador Pro
Ramzi went down in R2, and it was a bad day for Bryce - he had him on both rosters. The conditions at Surf City were decent, with 5ft waves and a light 7mph wind, but that didn't seem to help Ramzi. He was part of a string of upsets, including a huge upset in R2H15, where an underdog took down a favorite. Dana's still leading the WSL Fantasy pack, with Connor out front on TFST. On the other end, John's bringing up the rear on WSL Fantasy among players who actually entered a team. Robert, meanwhile, is eating the penalty on both platforms - he still hasn't entered a team, which is a season-points killer. John also skipped on TFST, leaving points on the table. The day saw some big moves, with several heats ending in upset or big upset results. R2H10, R2H11, R2H12, R2H15, and R2H16 all had unexpected winners. With the women's competition not in play today, all eyes were on the men's heats. The next WSL call is within the hour, and it'll be interesting to see how the standings shift from here.
Corona Cero New Zealand Pro
The Corona Cero New Zealand Pro saw some shake-ups today, with a couple of results that definitely weren't on the script. We had four men's heats and two women's heats run in clean 5-foot swell with light 5 mph wind. The big story was a massive upset in R4H1, which will have a few guys gritting their teeth. Another unexpected result went down in R4H4, keeping things interesting as we push deeper into the contest. Chaz is still holding strong at the top of the TFST standings, while Bryce is currently anchoring the bottom among those who actually put a team in the water. Over on WSL Fantasy, Denton is leading the pack, with Spencer bringing up the rear. Tanner and Robert, meanwhile, are still sitting this one out, leaving points on the table for both platforms. That's a tough penalty to eat this early in the season. The next call from the WSL is expected within the hour, so we'll see what tomorrow brings.
Bonsoy Gold Coast Pro
Another day in the water at Bonsoy Gold Coast Pro. Day 4 is complete. Both tours were in the water: 598 women's and 55 men's heats. Here's what matters for your rosters. Start with the bad news β Filipe Toledo is done. 11 out of 14 managers had him on their WSL Fantasy team, and JMonk, John, Curci, Evan, Dana, Chaz had him as their 2x power pick. Connor O'Leary pulled off the upset to send him packing. That's 6 managers who just lost their most valuable asset. The kind of hit you don't recover from easily. Add to the wreckage: Mateus Herdy also went out (6 owners taking the L). The underdogs ate today. Connor O'Leary over Leonardo Fioravanti, Ethan Ewing over Kauli Vaast, Filipe Toledo over Samuel Pupo. Some sneaky roster moves are paying off. Robert is the only one with Connor O'Leary, and Robert is the only one with Connor O'Leary. Exclusive ownership on surfers who are advancing? That's how you climb the standings. Where things stand: Evan leads WSL Fantasy (391.5 pts) while Evan has the edge on TFST (760 pts). On the flip side, Devon is anchoring WSL Fantasy and Dana is bringing up the rear on TFST. The waiting period continues. Freakin' Yew!!!
Western Australia Margaret River Pro
Day 2 at Western Australia Margaret River Pro just wrapped up. 20 women's and 24 men's heats ran today in overlapping format. The fantasy fallout was significant. The headline: Griffin Colapinto is out. 14 out of 14 managers had him on their WSL Fantasy team, and Bryce, John, Curci had him as their 2x power pick. Crosby Colapinto was the one who did the damage. That result raised some eyebrows. That's 3 managers who just lost their most valuable asset. The kind of hit you don't recover from easily. The lower seeds were dangerous today. George Pittar over Leonardo Fioravanti, Joel Vaughan over Liam O'Brien, Ethan Ewing over Miguel Pupo. Flying under the radar: Tanner. The only one who rostered George Pittar, and his guy is still alive and advancing. That kind of exclusive ownership edge adds up fast. Where things stand: Evan leads WSL Fantasy (227.6 pts) while Connor has the edge on TFST (544 pts). On the flip side, Bryce is anchoring WSL Fantasy and Gnarf is bringing up the rear on TFST. More to come. Freakin' Yew!!!
Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach
Day 4 at Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach is in the books. 4 men's heats today in 0.9m surf @ 8.75s with 26.1km/h winds, and there's plenty to talk about. Leonardo Fioravanti also pulled off a solid upset over Filipe Toledo today. Good news for Jake who have him rostered. Quietly having a great day: Jake. He's the only one who rostered Leonardo Fioravanti and his guy is still alive and advancing. That's the kind of under-the-radar edge that separates the good managers from the great ones. Where things stand: Jake leads WSL Fantasy (186.4 pts) while Tanner has the edge on TFST (424 pts). On the flip side, Tanner is anchoring WSL Fantasy and Spencer is doing the honors on TFST. Neither of those guys wants to be holding that position much longer. More heats coming. Freakin' Yew!!!
